Update the variable <physical_hostname oa_var="s_physical_hostname"

Linda
Hi Erman!
Changed in  the context xml  <physical_hostname oa_var="s_physical_hostname"> to virtual name.
host_name variable is already virtual.

Updated  the version of context to be higher than in db.
adconfig with  -syncctx / and  run autoconfig.sh -> the value to context automatically returns..
It should update it in db  if the version is higher..

Any guess ?

Thanks,Linda

Hi Linda?

regarding your statement -> "Updated  the version of context to be higher than in db. "
did you check the context file stored in the FND_OAM_CONTEXT_FILES and the apps tier filesystem , compared them and then updated the context file located in the apps tier fileystem to be higher than the one stored in FND_OAM_CONTEXT_FILE?

Also check this note: Configuring Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.x Using Logical Host Names (Doc ID 1968231.1)
especially the section named: Section 6.2.2: Changing the Host Name of the Primary Application Tier Node

Re: Update the variable <physical_hostname oa_var="s_physical_hostname"

Hi Erman!
Thank you as always!
 Now I think I dont need to change it after all in context. As we use AIX services and virtual names.. So for variable host_name in context I have  the  virtual name in place.  The physcal_hostname I leave intact.  And we have a trick that when you say hostname/script -> it actuall returns virtual name. This way adop works and not hangs. :)

Do you happen to know where the physical hostname used/what config ?

Another quick question: want to test if patch system OK. Basically switch between filesystems and startup without patches.
Do I need to do the empty patching cycle for it
OR
if the fs1/fs2 synchronized using fs_clone previously, can I do :
shutdown appstier
source patching run systems
run autoconfig
startup patching fs

Will this work ?
Thanks,Linda

for the virtual host ->
can you please send me the context file variables(only the related ones) and hostname outputs, so I can understand the env better..

for env swith ->
Do an empty patching cycle for switching the run and patch. This is guaranteed. You want to test it and ensure that it is working right? so, guaranteed method will bring a guaranteed environment, so is better; in my opinion.
