JUL'17 CPU on EBS 12.2.5

vijay
Hi,
I am planning to apply JUL'17 patch on ebs 12.2.5.

Do I need to apply patches to individual homes or there is consolidated patch?

This is an online patch.
The instructions in readme are clear.
This patch is applied using adop, "only adop"

Here are the prerequisite patches ->
The following should be installed in the order shown before installing this patch.
1 R12.AD.C.delta.8 R12.AD.C.DELTA.8 PATCH (Install on Oracle Applications DBA)
1 R12.TXK.C.delta.8 R12.TXK.C.DELTA.8 (Install on Oracle Applications Technology Stack)
1 R12.AD.C.delta.3 ORACLE APPLICATIONS DBA 12.2.3 PRODUCT RELEASE UPDATE PACK (Install on Oracle Applications DBA)
2 12.2.3 ORACLE E-BUSINESS SUITE 12.2.3 RELEASE UPDATE PACK

Follow the readme of the patch line by line and you should be okay.

Thanks much for your reply.

below mentioned points are  clear to me and have following doubts.

1. Do we need to apply patches to individual  E-Business Suite homes as well(FMW HOME etc.)?
2. What about the latest Oracle database patch? can we apply the patch at DB layer with opatch/opatchauto?

1)If the patches are Oracle Home patches, FMW Home patches then yes.  For FMW, you use the bsu utilitiy, for oracle homes, you use opatch utility. However, if it is an Applications patch , you apply it using adop.
So it is according to the patch and its type.
2)You can apply latest PSU/CPU patches to the database tier.. using standard database patching approaches.

Hi Admin,
your time is much appreciated.

What should be the sequence of patch application?

Database >> EBS

OR

EBS>> DB.

Regards,

There is no sequence.

It is matter of choice.
Those are 2 different layers in EBS.

However, if there is a dependency, then you should be choosing your sequence accordingly.
I mean, if an EBS patch or upgrade, requires a DB patch or upgrade, then you should be patching the DB tier first.

Hi Admin,
many Thanks....
As I understood now.

1. This CPU is an online ADOP patch. : I will apply this patch and dependent patches as per the doc.
---I am already on C.DELTA.8.---

2. Will apply DB patch separately with opatch/opatchauto as the database is on   12.2.0.1.

Support and accessibility much appreciated.

1)Yes

2)Yes. If there is a DB patch, you apply it seperately using opatch.
