Invoking dbca on Linux

Phindile
Hi Erman,

I want to create a new database, I'm trying to invoke dbca on Linux but I'm not winning.
This is what I did:

export DISPLAY=(ip address of host)
./dbca

But then it doesn't display anything, please assist.

Thanks.

Did you first give the xhost permission using root..

connect to OS with root
execute "xhost +" command
Then switch user to oracle (su - oracle)
set your DISPLAY properly and run dbca.

Dont set ip adress. You are connecting with vnc, right? Just set your DISPLAY without ip.
For ex:  export DISPLAY=:1.0

What are you using for displaying the x screens?
How do you connect to the server?
