Hi Roshan,

The answer for this question is actually a long story.
However, what my opinion/short answer is, Dba role will not go away.
Even if the Databases and Application tiers will completely be in the cloud, still there will be tasks that will require Dba's perspective. For example, the design of the database infrastructure in the cloud, the decision to be made for having a complex db environment in the cloud, HA architectural design, Decision for disaster sites, tecchnology to be used  and so on.
Also, in my opinion, there will still be in-db administration works. That is , objects will still be created, locks will be held, tablespaces will fill, top sessions will be there, sql statement will have to be tuned, in-db performance should be analyzed, db reports should be reviewed and so on..
Wel... In short, I guess, dba role will not go away, but when the time comes, we may call it different... "cloud dba" may be the name, we 'll see..
So our duties may change (may reduce in a way and/or may increase in a way), but there will still be database administration tasks, even if the databases are up in the cloud.

Hello,

we got a project on Fusion Cloud. We were told that DBAs will not be required anymore. How is that possible? How can I convince them?

Thanks,
Roshan

How do they convince you, in the first place?

Well... If you buy a packaged cloud application, then what they say may true.
Which cloud applications are you going to use?

So, if you use SAAS, then DBA is not needed.
